Basic Obedience II / Canine Good Citizen Class

This class meets for 7 weeks. Dogs must come from a basic obedience class or be evaluated by an instructor. All classes at Love on a Leash, LLC use positive motivational training methods.

CGC class (basic obedience 2) at Love on a Leash The goal of this class is to ensure response to obedience cues under distraction. Does your dog pay attention in new environments or when a Frisbee is flying through the air? The curriculum is designed to prepare for the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen test. Sheli, Joan and Melinda are all AKC certified evaluators for this test.

Goals include:

  • Accept a friendly stranger
  • Sit politely for petting
  • Accept handling (ears, feet, and brush)
  • Loose leash walking
  • Walking through a crowd
  • Speedy Sit, Down, and Stand
  • Down-Stay and Sit-Stay under distraction
  • Come! with distractions
  • Pass another dog on leash
  • Response to sudden loud noises
  • Supervised separation
